Responsibilities:

  • Sole remaining member of Systems & Advanced Technologies department. Manage all telecommunications needs for lift boats, offshore supply vessels, anchor handling tug supply vessels, and crew boats of Confidential, Inc. in the Gulf of Mexico fleet, totaling 52 vessels.
  • Provide around - the-clock support to Louisiana-based GoM crews, as well as technical and administrative support to the International and Mexico offices.
  • Applications and services managed include: VSAT, satellite ISPs, imaging systems, XM radio, Weather Worx, SAMM Preventative Maintenance program, Electronic Charting System, LRIT, Coastal Explorer, Direct TV, DGPS
  • Manage access and bandwidth usage by crews and third parties on board vessels to reduce costs and prevent service outages.
  • Monitor systems that provide data on vessel location, safety, security, operational status, plus crew correspondence and mass media services.
  • Receive and triage all service calls for all vessel types in the Gulf of Mexico fleet.
  • Select and dispatch technicians to provide service to vessels according to vessel needs and vendor performance, minimizing down time and expense.
  • Perform repair or replacement of hardware on board stacked vessels to provide cost effective systems maintenance in low-utilization assets.
  • Redeploy telecom assets during transitions in fleet make-up for long term strategy changes.
  • Coordinated divisions of duties and responsibilities in vessel telecommunications during spin off of Confidential, Inc. from Confidential, Inc. - experiencing zero increased service down time despite the reduction in corporate support.
  • Meet with sales professionals and attend trade events to negotiate vendor contracts for third party services.
  • Input invoices into Oracle Payables and reconcile balances across active accounts for internet, radio, satellite, etc services.
  • Attend weekly department head meetings to coordinate efforts among functional areas.
  • Attend weekly operations meetings to advise operations management on telecom capabilities and limitations in planned actions.
  • Identified billing errors in invoices from a former vendor, saving the firm over $160,000 in overbilling.
