OBJECTIVE

  • I feel I can bring a lot of great ideas to the team with the experience I have obtained from the 13 years I have worked for McKesson. I have taken on challenges since working for McKesson starting out as a contractor back in July of 2000 working for the helpdesk and proudly making it to the point of senior UNIX/LINUX administrator and hoping to even progress further in my career as the next step into a team lead position.   • Five years experience as Customer Support Specialist in the IT field along with eight years experience as a UNIX/LINUX administrator with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. I consider myself to be a detail-oriented, multi-tasker with strong organizational skills. Work effectively independently or as part of a team. Always remember that backups are essential. I never stop learning in the UNIX/LINUX/IT field which always keeps me going as to not doing the same repetitive things day in and day out while constantly training keeping up with the latest and newest technologies. Systems Administrator

  • Support for UNIX systems HP/UX, AIX, and Linux Red Hat which includes remote management of systems, systems monitoring, troubleshooting and critical outage support. Diagnostics performed on systems to help track system critical issues which were used to contact vendors for parts and system replacements.
  • The monitoring of over 100 servers on a daily basis using Patrol and scripts. Locating anything from full file systems, error messages, CPU utilization, backups, mounted file systems and oracle backups, OS related backups, recovering data and maintaining the complete overall health of the UNIX/LINUX operating system.
  • Provide UNIX/LINUX support for hospitals all over the United States and currently supporting over 15 sites. I send them daily and monthly reports with the status of their servers and keep them up to date with any errors / issues that I find throughout the day. Also answer any issues or problems they may have related to the operating system or sometimes the application. If unable to find a solution to an application problem, I make sure to forward them to the correct application group in order to resolve their issue.
  • Use of plenty of reference material such as MAN pages, reference books, materials, team members, etc if I do not know the answer immediately, I will research it and find it as quickly as possible and keep the client up to date soon as possible.
  • Experience with high availability, backups, kernel, devices, upgrades, patches, administrating users/groups, networking, cronjobs, VI, extending / cleaning up file systems, compressing files, setting permissions and ownerships, SAM, SMIT, LVM, error logs, system performance such as SAR, uptime, top, topas, ps and many other system administrative tasks such as printer administration, user administration, checking log files, changing configuration files mostly using vi, using ftp, setting up NTP, NFS, MC/ServiceGuard, HACMP, RedHat Clustering, using ssh to connect on secure connection, oracle ASM and use of Patrol/BMC for node monitoring.

TSG Helpdesk

  • Assisted in helpdesk support for hospitals located all over the United States and Canada. Oversee hardware problems involving PCs, servers, printers and tape drives.
  • Assist users with basic application and operating system problems. Reset user's passwords for applications, Novell logins, and Windows logins. Also dial into systems with AS400 support to reinitialize printers and check status.
  • Troubleshooting WAN networks with TCP problems over a leased line with AT T by using ping and trace route utilities. Also establishing connections with the hospitals servers or PCs using telnet, pcAnywhere, Reflections, Citrix Neighborhood and remote desktop.
  • Handled incoming calls and logged trouble tickets through an application called Vantive. Some troubleshooting at a tier 1 level and then passing it to tier 2 if no resolution was resolved in case. Follow-up with open cases daily until the call has been resolved to the clients satisfaction while maintaining a customer survey criteria of 90 or greater.
  • Handling of RMA Return Material Authorization processing for clients with defective devices or peripherals. Obtaining model numbers, serial numbers and problem description of the devices and calling it in to the proper vendor for the RMAs.
  • Effectively handle Remote Network Node Monitoring for the hospitals' networks to notify them if a specific node is not responding, file systems are filling up, CPU utilization is high or power outages occur. Monitor these nodes through HP OpenView and NetCool applications. Built and cemented relations with vendors, distributors and customers.
  • Armament System Specialist assisted with the uploading and downloading of munitions on F-15E Strike Eagle. Troubleshoot problems regarding the munitions systems such as bomb racks and test equipment for cockpit tests on release of bombs and missiles.
  • Effectively maintained quick and precise safety implementations working around explosive materials. Worked in a timely and efficient manner under any weather or warfare conditions.
  • Traveled to Saudi Arabia three months a year for a rotation between squadrons. Also included temporary duties, which included Las Vegas and Miami for a period of two weeks for training in combat missions.
  • Finished my career as an E-4 or Senior Airman with the Air Force after four years with an honorable discharge and a medal of good conduct. Copy of DD form 214 can be furnished upon request.
  • HOBBIES Fishing, camping, jogging, exercise, and spending as much time as possible with family and outdoors. I am a Pittsburgh Steeler fan and a Florida State Seminole fan not from Florida or from Pittsburgh. Been on the Steeler bandwagon since the 70's I enjoy golf just for fun not very competitive in the sport, I normally aim golf balls in ponds and off trees and probably have one of the best hook/slices in the game and even an occasional whiff. If cornhole was a professional sport I would be a professional. I also enjoy NASCAR and attending the races as a big time Kasey Kahne fan.
