Objective: Database Position

Summary:

I have basically spent my whole career loading data from different types of feeds into a normalized database that I or a group of people designed. This experience includes taking weather satellite feeds for MITRE The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Re05 for security reasons and to take advantage of Microsoft's SQL Server Reporting Services SSRS and SQL Server Integration Services SSIS for ETL purposes. Additionally, we would analyze performance and design issues during this upgrade and improve the applications using the databases. Finally, I will mention a recent project I worked on at Haverford College. We were transitioning at the College from Squirrel Mail and Microsoft Exchange to Google Applications including G-Mail. I wrote the initial program to allow users to provision their G-Mail account as long as they had an active Sun LDAP username and password. This allowed the majority of end users to provision to G-Mail without the systems department having to force them to provision. As the cutoff date to use Exchange and Squirrel Mail approached we need to know who did not provisiosearch and Engineering Corporation , building parsers in PERL to stabilize the data and then loading them into Oracle using PL/SQL scripts. This data was used to perform analysis on flight patterns verses weather conditions to determine the best flight route for Air Traffic Controllers. I programmed in Java at MITRE for front end analysis of related data for a Web Logic J2EE web server. As a student, I also studied under Dr. Il-Yeol Song at Drexel University where I got my Master's of Science in Information Systems. Dr. Song specializes in teaching practical applications built on proper data modeling. While consulting in Austin I upgraded many clients from SQL Server 2000 to 20n. I wrote a PERL program to extract provisioned users from the Google database and compare that with current users in LDAP. This produced a report which showed who had not provisioned, allowed managers to decide who should not be provisioned or deleted from Sun LDAP and those that still needed to be contacted and told to provision. This process led to a 100 percent success rate in provisioned users who needed to. I also provided information to clean up the Sun LDAP directory for the first time in four years. The database used in this case was MySQL.In conclusion, I like working with Database Administration, ETL Processes, Data Modeling and Data Mining. Additionally, I am very interested in learning new technology and processes related to these areas.
