- DSCP setting up IP routers to configured and enforce QoS policies uniformly within the network. IP routers use the DSCP value as an index into a Per Hop Behavior PHB table. Control connections and data connections can be configured with different DSCP values. By configuring DSCP settings, it determines if the IP network you are using implements PHB, and as a WAN administrator, I determine the appropriate DSCP values. VLAN traffic is routed using 802.1Q-compliant tags within an Ethernet frame. The tag includes a unique VLAN ID, and Class of Service CoS priority bits. The CoS priority scheme also called Layer 2 Class of Service or L2CoS uses three Class of Service CoS or 802.1P priority bits, allowing eight priorities.
- Administration: Manage and monitored NWA network infrastructure, that provides first, second and third level troubleshooting.
- Management and control of network configurations and provide support for all networking issues.
- Migration was from a traditional Layer 2-based VPN such as Frame Relay or ATM, where the service provider, who did not Layer 3 routing in their enterprise, to a Layer 3 MPLS VPN service, where the provider does participate in Layer 3 routing. It was important to know the internal site routing protocols and if the PE-CE routing options protocols is offered by the ISP provider. I started looking at the physical migration from the existing WAN core to the L3 MPLS VPN of the IPS service providers, which is the first step of migration. Physical migration starts with the site or one of the sites that is to be designated as a transit site. I started by provisioning the new circuit that attaches the CE at a Site to the PE in the MPLS network of the service provider. The PE-CE circuit that is provisioned must have enough bandwidth to accommodate the extra traffic. The new circuit was provisioned for the new PE-CE link, Layer 3 connectivity over that link, was established. The routing protocol used over the PE-CE link, RP peering was also established at that time. The routing protocol running over this link, will likely determine the ISP service provider supports link and I looked at steps to avoid routing loops or sub-optimal routing that can occur with redistribution.
