  • Guarantee adequate service level response for all open issues by conducting real time monitoring. Provide guidance in the planning, provisioning and support of our mission critical HP-UX/Linux system environment and tier1 EMC SAN storage.
  • Conduct capacity planning reviews with management and oversee capacity plans formulated by less experienced personnel. Oversee and implement system upgrade strategies. Decrease down time through operational improvements tools and processes . Continuously involved in developing different system administrative tools using Shell, Perl or C. Working closely with my staff members in transferring this knowledge.
  • Develop an employee growth plan for each team member. Maintain weekly staff meetings for project review, bi-weekly one-on-one meetings, quarterly review updates and yearly performance reviews.

  • Developed a migration plan of all development and production mission-critical applications from a PA-RISC platform Superdome, rp8420s and rp74xx servers t new Itanium servers consisting of various BL860/70s, rx7460s and rx8640s. Worked closely with our Oracle DBAs and development teams in properly executing the migration plan. Coordinated the migration of the OV Management server from an old PA-RISC server t a new Integrity Blade server. The project was completed within the 6 month timeline.
  • Upgraded multiple ServiceGuard clusters t version 11.19 t reduce cluster package downtime. The project required t test/verify new version functionality, failover package script upgrades and business downtime schedules for all production server upgrades.
  • Engineered and developed a suite of shell scripts that automated the Networker Legat backups utilizing our Business Continuity Volumes BCVs and a disaster recovery solution utilizing EMC's SRDF between our local and remote Symmetrix DMX frames.

Developed various administrative system shell scripts t automate cleanup, monitor and backup procedures. Implemented make recovery procedures for all HP-UX systems.
  • Investigated and discovered a major I/ bottleneck on Liz's core business application. Recommended and implemented the offloading of all the Oracle hot tables across various stripped volumes. Eventually installed EMC PowerPath t load balance across multiple HBAs.
