PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Lead Engineer
Confidential
Responsibilities:
- I support all the Plant Mainframe Computer Applications within an IBM MVS environment. Expert in analysis, design, and COBOL programming using DB2, SQL and CICS. I still program but only for the most complex issues or for quick emergency fixes. I currently have no direct reports but direct the work of several technical people when that work is related to our Confidential Plant Manufacturing Systems. I also address mainframe issues for the rest of the
- IT staff supporting mainframe applications. This includes managing the Data Warehouse Changes, naming conventions, data modeling, purge strategies, reducing CPU usages by identifying more efficient SQL processing and support of disaster recovery.
- My current role allows me to direct the staff, approve their designs, and make sure they follow standards and implement changes that do not disrupt downstream systems. I work with staff & management personnel from every department to identify the best way to solve their issues in the most efficient manner within the current mainframe computer environment. I am the business consultant for any new projects so impacts to other departments are identified up front and addressed accordingly. I have also been the Project Manager for three different projects while doing this role. I have taken several Project Management Courses during that time & all three projects were completed on time or early. The last Project was completed in February 2017 which was a month ahead schedule.

Team Leader
Responsibilities:
- In this role I had as many as 14 direct supports reporting to me which included some contractors. I was responsible for all the business applications related to the producing & shipping of steel at the IH East Plant. I was responsible for working with those business managers to prioritize work and deliver that work without causing disruptions for the business. All my application Primary supports were assigned to others in my group but I was still the
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for most applications. So even though I was doing a good job managing the people, they were less productive because my management responsibilities limited the time I could spend addressing their technical & business issues. I was able to talk to the business to understand why they asked for something & determine what they really needed to solve their issue. That is why I left the management role to become the Lead Engineer for Confidential, which was a new position created for my skill set.
Confidential
Project Leader
Responsibilities:
- Reduction in staff required application support areas to be absorbed by the staff that were still in the group.
- I also provided to new employees about the Confidential Business Functions and the original reasoning for why the system works the way it does today. I played a key role in our Y2K Testing, Disaster Recovery, & Contingency Planning. I am the resident technical expert for our Data Warehouse Environment.
