Responsibilities:

  • As a contractor thru Pomeroy, I was tasked with updating the 500 plus servers at all Children’s Mercy Hospital locations in all of the Kansas City locations. I was responsible for applying the required Critical and Security Updates from Microsoft. After a couple of months of preparation, I started patching servers at night and in six weeks successfully patched all servers, bringing them up to date with updates from Microsoft. Some servers required as many as 200 patches going back as far as . I used SCCM 2012 SP1. I created Software Update Groups, Collections, and Deployments to accomplish this task. The position is ending with successful implementation of the Updates and the Children’s Mercy environment is now up to date on patches.

Responsibilities:

  • As a contractor thru Candid Source, I was at Tnemec Inc as a Storage and Backup Specialist. I was responsible for ensuring the Confidential storage, Avamar backup and Data Domain systems were available and functioning correctly. The environment consisted of a two location mirror of Confidential VNX 5400 storage devices, Avamar Backup and Data Domain 2500. I was responsible for presenting storage to ESXi servers running on Confidential UCS blades, connected to Confidential storage through Confidential Nexus switches. The position ended due to the original employee returning.

Responsibilities:

  • The role of AVP/ANA at Citizens had me upgrading the entire ESXi environment on Confidential Confidential servers to the latest patches and versions of EXSi, VMview, and the VMWare tools on each of 150 hosts and guests. I was responsible for day to day administration of the Recovery Environment which consisted of a complete mirror of locations at KC and Chillicothe using Confidential VNXe, Clariion storage, mirrored over a

I was also responsible for the Vranger backups of virtual servers. Microsoft SCOM/SCCM servers were installed and it was my responsibility to maintain these servers. We also used Backup Exec for backup to LTO tape.

  • As the Systems Administrator of the environment, my first responsibilities were to raise the domain from a 2000 Native to 2003 by building and deploying new VMWare, virtual Domain controllers with DNS, DHCP, SSLCert Auth, and transferring FSMO roles to the new servers. I also upgraded Domain to 2008 functionality and installed Windows server 2012 instances. I played a vital support role in migration to Cloud Online services of Office 365 and Exchange online. I implemented WSUS servers, with downstream support servers to apply patches and upgrades to servers and workstations. I was tasked with and built and deployed Trend Micro virus protection servers.   • As a contractor through Balance Point, I was tasked with diagraming and document the enterprise server network of both physical and virtual servers, and the storage that supported them. The Polsinelli network consisted of over 280 servers, and 9 SANs. 80 of these servers were physical and the remaining 203 were virtual. The SANs were both, EMC, HBA/fiber attached and Dell Equallogic, iSCSI attached. The virtual servers were both VMWare 4.1 ESX and MS Hyper-Visor. The Servers were located in 19 satellite offices throughout the US and the Plaza KCMO location. One Vcenter server managing 18 ESX hosts with Vmotion, HA and DRS configured and networked to 7 VLAN configurations for PBX, VOIP, Server, Management, User, iSCSI and Disaster Recovery networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Completely restructured approximately 150 Virtualized servers and built all of the hosts in Production, Development and Disaster Recovery environments, to enable HA, VMotion, and DRS using Vmware ESX 4.1 hosts on HP hardware. Server SAN storage was connected through iSCSI to Confidential and Pillar storage devices. I replaced the Help Desk ticketing Server with a new Numara Footprints server that was 4 versions newer and also migrated historic data. My daily responsibilities included administration of CommVault backup, Vranger backup, EMC, Pillar storage, WinXP32 and 64, WIN7 32 and 64, 2008 R2 servers and desktops. I also became familiar with Citrix Xenapp and XenServer through a Proof of Concept implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • As a contractor working for Confidential ( Confidential ) I was tasked with analyzing the existing network structure and determining the best method of implementing a new structure to support future growth. I built and installed a complete new VMware Vsphere 4.0 set of clustered, SAN attached hosts consisting of four ESXi 4.0 servers and one Virtual Center Management server. Servers are separated into clustered pairs and each pair in different building locations. Both sets of clusters are ISCSI attached to a Dell Equallogic SAN with 24TB of storage. All existing virtual server were migrated to the new environment using cold migration. SANS have been configured to communicate and replicate over a standalone fiber network. Communications to the SANs by the hosts is through iSCSI networking. VMotion and High Availablity are now configured also. SAN to host communications are through multiple NICs with Round Robin and MPIO.

  • As a contractor through Ecom solutions I have worked at Confidential as a Windows/Intel (WNTL) System Administrator on the Tier1 Rapid Response team. The team consists of two people covering over 1400 WNTL servers, throughout the United States. Working from my home, my responsibilities were to provide rapid response and break/fix of the servers.
  • The position required that I be on-call 24/7 for one week, then regular hours the next. The nature of the position required that I respond to a page within five minutes and be online working for a solution within 15 minutes. I used MS Remote Desktop, Dameware, PC Anywhere and DRAC/RILO cards to access the servers. I coordinated with vendors and Local Technicians the diagnosis and repair of servers with hardware and software failures.

  • As a consultant for Confidential, temporarily residing in Wichita, KS, I worked for Nations Bank in the Credit Policy Staff Support department. The current project of Credit Policy Staff Support was the implementation of the wide area SNA network using IBM's OS/2 and Communications Manager.   • Position was originally as the only Network administrator and eventually grew into a position as one of five. I converted the original network from DOS 3.0 to a DOS 5.0 for the workstation and OS/2 on the servers. As one of five network administrators, my duties included all aspects of implementing a total network change from token-ring OS/2 environment to an Ethernet NT 4.0 platform. This conversion covered fifteen sites in the US and six in Canada. It covered all PCs (approximately 1000), all servers and all SNA servers. There were 35 servers and four SNA servers’ local and three to five servers at each site. This conversion was a three-tier client/server environment conversion.
