Responsibilities:

  • As a 3rd level services engineer my primary focus was to complete the IPT managed service transition for Confidential Americas Cisco IP telephony cluster from Verizon to Orange Business Services. The GSK Americas cluster houses well over 20,000 phones within approximately 30 plus different locations.
  • Duties include providing onsite activities such as Moves, Adds, Changes and service support to the GSK Americas Cisco CUCM, CME, CUE and Unity Connection telephony services infrastructure. This includes LAN \ WAN troubleshooting, router and switch debugging and necessary IOS changes required for the transition as well as other support activities. In addition, provide support and scripting to GSK UCCX contact center and CUEAC attendant consoles. Current projects include Rockville MD site migration to Cisco Telephony, also to perform IP telephone firmware upgrades to remote sites so that they support the current revision of SRST, IOS and CUCM version. A cluster wide software cleanup consisting repairing misconfigured naming standards of device profiles, phones, and gateways. Migrate the HQ site users to IP Communicator so that GSK can house their HQ employees in more cost effective “Smart Desk” areas.
  • Day to day duties are performed on Cisco CUCM OS 8.x, CME 8.x, Unity Connection 8.x and CUE 8.x. Senior Voice and Data Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • My position with Confidential &T was an onsite engineer Confidential American Red Cross. Duties included working on a voice and data network re-design project to replace their existing Centrex PBX and to support approximately 400 new Cisco IP telephones. The project included changing configurations and re-subnetting of the existing data equipment and network as well as adding / replacing network equipment to support full redundancy for both voice and data networks. The new network consisted of dual HSRP configured Cisco 3845 SRST voice gateways / routers with redundant MPLS Multilink PPP WAN circuits.
  • In addition to the WAN, on the LAN a Cisco 3750G PoE switch stack and RPS’s were added to a new IDF. In addition, on the LAN modified configurations of 3 other existing data switch IDF closets to support the new voice network. The LAN changes consisted of creating new voice VLAN’s, modifying existing data VLAN’s and adding QoS and to support VoIP and the new IP telephones. On the CallManager Cluster I performed all configurations to create the new location on the server. Some of the steps on the Cisco CallManager server were to add the new location, device pools, gateways, route lists, calling search spaces, partitions, route patterns, and translation patterns etc. Also, I configured the voice gateways by adding CallManager and SRST configurations and necessary dial peers. Worked with all necessary teams of American Red Cross and Confidential &T throughout this project as well as learning their RFC process. Built solid relationships with both organizations allowing knowledge sharing and data transfer to aid in the successful completion of the project.
