  • Remained continually aware of business, infrastructure, and technical activities to architect and design innovative solutions
  • Created and maintained project schedules
  • Managed instituting/establishing/ensuring adherence to delivery methodologies on over 50-60 mission-critical Solution Architectures in parallel lasting 5-8 years each in parallel over 23 years:
  • Provided pre-implementation planning and coordination support of Solution Architecture Teams.
  • Helped develop the BellSouth team strategies and policies on Solution Architectures to improve cost-effective performance on an ongoing basis through re-engineering, migration, technology refresh upgrades etc.
  • Provided architectural design support and system configurations for various departments/LOBs within BellSouth enterprise environment
  • Conducted implementation presentations to VP/Director levels, matrixed (cross-functional) teams, LOB and IT groups on implementation configurations for Solution Architecture upgrades.

MISSION CRITICAL SOLUTION ARCHITECTURES:

Approach & Methodologies: Formed a cross-functional (matrixed) team of 10-15 members from diverse work groups Busness Analysts, Project Managers, Application Developers (Accenture), DBA's, System Administrators, Network (LAN/WAN) Transport Groups, Vendors CBS/Knowledge Networks,HP/SUN/Netscape etcFinalized initial functional topologies based on use-case model analysis. Progressed the projects through several platforms over a 6-yr period through individual phases of the SDLC (Inception, Elaboration, Construction, Transition, Technology-Refresh etc.)

Benefits Accrued: Achieved significant improvements in scalability and efficiency (response-time/throughput/availability etc.) Integration: Integrated both applications with Single-sign on utilizing Netegrity now CA Siteminder and 3 IVR (Interactive Voice Response) Application Servers. Implemented in sequenced phases over a period of 6 years the integration of both the TEDS and BOLTS applications via the SDLC process (Inception, Elaboration, Construction, Transition etc.)

Leadership: Had responsibility for 6 years in coordinating architectural design and activities of the application-vendor CBM Technologies TEDS, Knowledge Networks BOLTS, database administrators, data-center personnel, network transport groups BellSouth, middleware vendor Netscape/iPlanet Web Server

Chaired pre-implementation planning and implementation meetings of cross-functional team on an ongoing basis over a 6-yr period and progressed the architecture through all relevant phases of the SDLC as described above.

Platform Infrastructure: 2-Node VAX/VMS 6.0 /7.0Cluster platform-infrastructure with terminal servers on a lowspeed VCSN Datakit II network initially. This was later migrated to a highspeed BOSIP Network Platform serving the 9-State BellSouth Enterprise Wide Area Network WAN . SPECTRUM data-collection devices distributed in outlying areas throughout the 9-State region supplied 24 X 7 data to the centralized 2-node VAX/VMS V6.0/7.0 Cluster that processed the same to generate overtime reports upon which compensation was calculated.

Challenges: Maintaining scalability, high-availability, response-time and throughput as usage-traffic patterns drastically changed over 8-yr period throughout the 9-state region. Applications initially on a low-speed Data-Kit II VCSN network and were sequentially migrated in several phases to the high-speed BellSouth Open Systems Integrated Platform BOSIP so as not to impact operational performance.

Integration: Monitored usage-traffic patterns over LAN/WAN/Web in the 9-State Region on an ongoing basis. Identified areas of the operational environment and user-environment for migration to new environments/technologies on a staged/sequenced/prioritized basis in consultation with user-communities to maintain operational efficiency in performance (minimize down-time) at all times.

Benefits: The sequenced/phased/staged management of the Solution Architecture over a period of 8 years was successful in maintaining the operational performance efficiency of the application while incorporating the necessary innovative initiatives to align with the business-transformation changes needs of the enterprise.

Leadership: Built consensus through conducting regular meetings/workshops with the cross-functional (matrixed) teams including platform vendor technical architects DEC, application vendor EDS, Business Analysts, Project Managers, LOB Managers and other end-user group representatives to prioritize and schedule staged change-controls in both Test & Production Environments to implement architectural and application changes and upgrades. Assigned action items to participants and tracked progress until solutions were implemented.

We'd love your feedback!
