- IT Strategy - Leading the design and authoring the IT Strategic Plan that will be utilized to transform the AvalonBay computing experience. This plan is a change in direction, updating much of the aging technology and IT processes used at the company, focusing on the associate experience.
- Property Management System Upgrade - Upgrade to the property management system, to bring the system to the current supported level. Ensure that all customizations of the product, custom interfaces and reporting are maintained throughout the upgrade.
- Tablet Computer Initiative - Work with Residential Services Group to implement the technology portion of their sales vision. Translate vision to requirements and lead a team to perform tablet product evaluation and selection. Tablets customized to provide leasing associates access to information regarding units, amenities, neighborhoods, etc. Worked directly with Community Associates to collect feedback regarding tablet usage, and recommend/implement changes.
- IT Change Control - Implemented an IT Change Management procedure that ensures detailed requirements, design and architecture planning, test methods, product release strategy and more effective communication.
- IT Service Management - Working with the IT Leadership team to implement an ITSM solution based on ITIL methods. Project will update current policies, procedures and SOX controls to better align with a service delivery method that focuses on eliminating self-inflicted outages and reducing the number of chronic issues within the environment, as well as producing meaningful, actionable reporting.
- Lotus Notes Replacement - Groundwork to replace the aging Lotus Notes system with a company Intranet, while utilizing cloud based solutions for email, calendaring and productivity. Currently in the research and proposal stages.

- Design and develop world class support solutions that enabled our associates to spend more time servicing our residents. Primary focus of all projects was intuitive, easy to use solutions that worked for our associates, enabling them to take advantage of skills they learned outside the office and apply that to their day to day computing environment.
- Implementation of Microsoft Lync Phone system and Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging to enable enterprise voice features for the Archstone Corporate Office. Project saved approximately $100,000 per year in support costs over the existing Nortel, Cisco based systems and enabled associates to communicate in ways that enabled them to be productive from any Internet connected location.
- Implementation of Microsoft SharePoint collaboration environment and establishing the Archstone Taxonomy reducing the amount of time associates spend looking for and filing documents. In addition, introducing SharePoint based solutions that helped reduce 3rd party application costs, by migrating functionality to the SharePoint environment.
- Implementation of a full ITSM suite, and the integration of this product to the support departments to allow for Incident/Problem/Change/Configuration/Knowledge/Service management using the Service-Now.com platform.
- Design and implementation of a customer feedback process. This feedback drove projects and policy changes within the departments to support our associates needs and goals.

This resulted in over $100,000 per year in reduced maintenance costs, reduced provisioning times and increased quality control standards in the data center.
- Telecom Expense Management introduced. Migrated all POTS lines and long distance to Granite Communications resulting in a 20% reduction in telephone expenses per year.
- Enterprise Data Center conversion to Cisco Nexus platform resulting in reduced management and reduced maintenance costs.
- Metro Ethernet MPLS network, allowing for greater speeds on the Archstone WAN, as well as common VPN points, centralized IPS and content filtering.
