PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Confidential, Overland Park, KS

Oracle Application Developer

Responsibilities:

  • The enterprise is comprised of on line catalogs to provide specific data about all types of vehicles ranging from automobiles to airplanes and everything in between including agriculture equipment and marine equipment. The detail goes down to Vehicle Identification numbers (VIN) to when the next auction will take place. Every State Department of transportation, police departments, civil and military organizations alike are customers plus insurance companies and various other customer classifications.
  • The data is uploaded from many sources. My primary source of data derives from Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets in Comma Separated Files (CSV) format. This requires the Oracle table organization to be external. Once the data is loaded, it goes through a number of processes to add specific data that relates to make and model plus any related data from other sources.
  • I work on trouble tickets and as an admin I do optimizations where it applies. The load on these servers can reach near breaking point and requires an aggressive approach to keep up with company growth thus demand. The environment is Linux servers using Centos, Oracle 10G and 11G (depending on the product), GIT, PHP, Source Tree, SQL Developer and some are licensed for TOAD.

Oracle Application Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Worked on projects related to claims, premiums and billing schedules some requiring heavy Oracle date function usage. Where necessary, additional insertions into default and initialization value tables were required for new business updates; result set data transformations were required on a global level meaning the same PL/SQL code used in Central Europe may not be suitable for South Korea. As a result 'on-the'fly' transformations were required as a part of the code optimization. There are three development projects for the same end-goal. Part of my responsibilities included keeping up changes to the PL/SQL productions.
  • The other was Java based and not a part of my responsibility. I came close to the end of first production thus no fundamental changes were made such as the inclusion of indexes however often the usage of hints use hash and alike were used. Certain portions of my assignments required analytic functions thus windowing was used as appropriate. Usage of ‘Analyze table’, DBMS Stats and explain plan were also used in my PL/SQL development experience though I rarely mention it since it is a fairly routine event.
  • The organization uses Visual Studio TFS for Version Control., Oracle 10G however recently migrated to 11G. Desktop operating system is Microsoft 7. TOAD Tools are used.

Oracle Application Developer

Responsibilities:

  • This was a two month project to build all of the basic DML for two-hundred new tables for the second project which was going to replace the first as a major version upgrade. I built the Insert, Delete, Update and single-row selects for the new tables. I used Oracle scripting and Oracle internal tables such as all tables, and constraint tables to perform this phase of the project. No optimization or indexing was performed in the short time I had to accomplish my portion of the project.
  • The new tax calculator required a rewrite of all of theback-end functions that interact with the PHP based internet application (Front end). A new face and Oracle 11GR2 database using Linux servers is slated to become the new Tax Calculator for Thomson Reuter's customers. With the tables established and normalized; wrote the back-end user interface including anMD5 password encryption, and all required insert, delete, and update functions for the new application.

Oracle Developer using PL/SQL Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Most if not every medical charting scheme uses some form of storage and retrieval system. They range from a paper folder containing all records, notes and laboratory pages to highly sophisticated database record capture and retrieval systems. My project is to move very large quantities of Computer Electronic Medical Records (CEMR) known commercially as Centricity to a General Electric system called EPIC. The export from one system to another uses two different methodologies, HL7 and Oracle UTL FILE, a built-in set of functions. Once the result set is established, specific fields in the query are put in a variable character array data type and using UTL FILE functions, an HL7 formatted text file is created and later using FTP is sent to a share file computer for distribution.
  • This extraction required a seven union select statement and took hours to process even on IBM RISC 6000s running AIX. The best way to have delt with optimizing this environment would include a partition based on ICD-9 coding. In addition using a partition index would have been a good start, but my effort was not to support the old, but to move Confidential t data to a whole new off-site system so no rudimentary changes were employed.
  • The backend of the system is an IBM Risc 6000 using AIX, but all of the clients are Windows 7 Enterprise PCs. Our Oracle instances are all 10GR2 but one 11G on a Windows Server. I am running on TOAD 11 and have been a long time user of TOAD.

  • Every medical encounter in America requires the usage of some form of the 837 claim system mandated by the United States Federal Government. Kaiser Permanente is the largest HMO in the United States and hosts an amazing multi-support system to remain in compliance with said government standards. The backbone of the system is based on Oracle. New claims are received around the clock and are extracted and mapped for table distribution. New claims come from varying resources; the system operates in both directions by paying providers and billing to a multitude of sources and cost-centers including institutions such as insurance carriers, Medicare and Medicaid.

AERO, an Oracle application written in PL/SQL not only accepts data for processing but analyzes the data to determine the fitness of each person who may serve in the air or be piloting an airborne vehicle such as Unmanned Vehicle. Currently the Coast Guard, an essential unit of Homeland Security, the US Navy, and other military services are trying Confidential out to test is suitability their needs. Integrated the Confidential Civil Support Team (ARG WMD CST) into Confidential at this time.
  • Confidential is an Internet browser application using the built-in packages from Oracle such as HTTP plus the full Web services with Oracle Application Servers. Part of the job description included a portion of installation of Oracle, and OS patches, but aside from that Korn shell work, execution of Oracle scripts were often accomplished by launching Korn shell scripts, that would open the Oracle instance to complete DML requests some which were to handle light DBA activities in DDL areas.

Oracleapplication Development using PL/SQL, Data Architecture

Responsibilities:

  • Projects include Rapid Development Tools in the form of Oracle scripts, Stored Procedures and Functions embedded in Packages designed to inventory existing tables and relationships to create objects by type, custom indexes to arrays, associative arrays and piped functions to access rudimentary functionality serving higher level applications.
  • Designed programming to build automatic Dynamic Manipulation (DML) functionality by table. Built-in libraries include Native Dynamic SQL (NDS) for cursor applications secondary to drive tables. Overall results offer a strong contrast therefore producing a reduction in production costs in development. Formatting output to present data in a controlled manner remains as a discipline and some features have been canned for the repetitive essence. Most of the report effort ellipses specific description due to the specific nature of the effort.
  • Currently working toward application development on dedicated low-cost micro-kernel notebookswith solid state memory drives with embedded Linux. Exploring opportunities with Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP (LAMP) technologies for product development specializing in automated telecommunication promoting a specific menu of information as requested by clients.

OracleApplication Developer and Data Architect

Responsibilities:

  • Major duties included converting proprietary scripting languagecode to 10gand11gOracle using PL/SQLstructured programming modules to speed up an un-scalable client product.
  • Normalization and indexes were but a couple of issues that made the tune up and transition of business logic difficult. Tools used included QUESTTOAD Data Modeler, andTOAD forOracle.
  • Client used Microsoft XP in a .NET environment to Citrix. Major s included breaking the barrier of returning result sets from theOracle10g (Development),11g (Production)Instance to Client application which according to the manufacture was not possible. Provided innovative data collection systems through associative arrays and piping methodologies as well as other features. Implementation methodology varied from group and person, but I preferred the discipline of running Korn shell scripts to invoke much of what I did simply to keep an immediate record of my activities without having to look through logs. It saved time and let me know what I had done and what needed to be done.
