Unix/Linux System Administrator

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for implementation, integration, problem resolution, root cause analysis, quality assurance, disaster recovery, audits, hardware/software OS and application maintenance, performance tuning, upgrades, OS backups, migrations, adding/removing users, printers, space management, and all other daily system administration functions.
• Sole system administrator onsite and on call from conversion and start up administering 8 AIX RS6000 H50 R50 , 24 SUN Solaris, and 2 Fedora LINUX servers running the PA Lottery with a base of approximately 7,500 terminals.
• Maintained disk space, performed backups, and ensured archive log processing for the Oracle DB.
• Implemented and configured Tivoli Maestro and Netview to proactively monitor the enterprise network for file space, file size, critical processes, system availability and central view of potential problems and alerts for operations.
• Utilizing Solarwinds to maximize network throughput, when downloading to field terminals minimizing download times during upgrades without causing network saturation.
• Created/Administrated Zones/Containers in Solaris 10 and implemented security to Zones.
• Worked with McData San Navigator to zone EMC, Hitachi and IBM DS8300 Storage Arrays
• Creating Jumpstart image for Solaris 9 and 10 and configuring new Linux servers.
• Experienced in redefining volume groups, migrating, mirroring logical volume using VERITAS VOLUME MANAGER.
• Upgrading of multiple critical NT4 member servers using ESX server and P2V to prevent downtime and production outage.
• Installed and configured Oracle 10g multi partition non-RAC installation running on a single E10K with Veritas Volume Manager.
• Performed SAN switch migration from Cisco Switch to Brocade.
• Used performance-monitoring tools such as BaseBoard Management Controller BMC tools, RPM to enhance system.
• Installed, configured and supported Citrix Metaframe XP/Presentation Server's within a Citrix Server Farm. Configured, tested and deployed a production Citrix Nfuse Web Interface Server within the Citrix Server Farm.
• Performing Testing and verifications of systems, network connectivity and functionality prior to being released into production. Production level support to CVS Concurrent Versions System servers which hosts Sun ONE product codes.
• Monitoring the server performance using Nagios and configuration and troubleshooting LAN and TCP/IP issues and Weblogic.
