PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE;
Software Engineer 3
Confidential, San Jose, CA
Responsibilities:
- I was on a team that developed tools for the Global Services engineers for support.
- We started with Object - Oriented Perl with Oracle backend (originally MySQL) on RedHat servers, called Investigator. This tool used SupportSave data from SAN hardware, FiberChannel over Ethernet, and IP Switches.
- We used git repository for our distributed control system using Linux virtual machines as our development environment.
- After one year my team was moved to Engineering and I was then tasked with creating a front end UI for Support called GatorAid that was developed in HTML5/CSS/JavaScript/PHP.
- As this was in the process of being completed I was also tasked with migrating our Oracle backend to PostgreSQL to match Engineering controls.
- From Investigator came Brocade Service Vision (BSV), that was developed in the AWS of the Amazon Cloud using EC2 for Docker containers, Python, RestAPI’s, RDS (PostgreSQL) and Slurm for for spinning up on demand servers.
- Using Agile Methodology in sprints of a three-week cycles, BSV processed data much faster and on a bigger scale than Investigator.
- My team was responsible for breaking ground within the company to be the only team working in Agile, using tools chain items like git, Jira, Confluence, and HipChat, but also AWS.
- Any data that was uploaded to the Brocade systems using FTP or email was pushed through our system, processed, and had analysis for our Support Engineers.
- Near the end of 2016 I started developing Cassandra for a new tool called SNaFU (Supportshow, Nscam, and Fabric Utility) for TAC support that wanted a client based UI. We developed a PythonWX UI that used our BSV/AWS backend scalable architecture to upload files, process data, and return results using RestAPI’s to show analyzed results. This allowed us to develop additional tools such as FAN IN/OUT, PortLog Decoder, FrameVR, Converged Log Builder, Topology Builder.
- During all of this time I was the solo developer for the entire database layer, using PL/SQL originally for Oracle, then in PLpgSQL and pl/perl for functions in PostgreSQL, and using RESTAPI’s for all products that were developed by my team. I created applications or script suites using originally Perl and migrating to Python where other team members could quickly add users, run metrics, and monitor performance.
- I was also called in to assist finding issues and streamlining queries for other engineering products using PostgreSQL.

I was the primary DBA for Origination and Statement Analyzer for nearly 700 databases hosted at our datacenter in McKinney and Allen, TX.
- I am also the Application Support specialist for the Web and Application layers maintaining 99.98% uptime over the past 4+ years across 178 servers.
- I have been outsourced numerous times to other departments within Confidential for my SQL and Reporting skills.
- I have been a Top Performer for Confidential for the past 4 years and was recently awarded for my continuous contributions over that period of time.
