Final Project: My trips and tours

Functionality:

• Each user has an account set up by the registration form. An email is sent to the user after registration.
• Authorized users can create their own trips looking into the Google Maps.
• When provided a location and date the map would whisk the user to the location and display
• The weather forecast for the next 5 days if available.
• The popular places around the location with clickable markers on the Google maps.
• Users can add these places to the trip; remove from the trip and save the trip details.
• The user can view all the trips with 4 trips displayed per page.
• The user can also search for a trip. An invite email is sent to all emails in the shared list.
• The user can modify the trip, delete the trip or share the trip if made public.
• The user can enter blog about the trip. The latest tweets of the trip are displayed if twitter name is provided in the profile and hashtag in the trip details.
• The user can edit the profile and send a mail to the webmaster for feedback.

Technical Details:

• The website was developed using “Code Igniter “- A PHP MVC framework.
• Technologies used - PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, MySQL, JSON, XHTML and CSS.
• Integrated with “Weather.gov REST API” to obtain the weather forecast for a location.
• Integrated with “Panoramio API” to display the popular places around a location and placed markers on Google Map.
