Modify 2 programs , proc, control card, JCL to add a control file of codes/descriptions to eliminate hardcoding in programs and to allow for flexibility of adding/deleting codes in the future.
Modify 1 program, 2 procs, 2 jcl, 1 control card , to increase all input/output interface files by 1 byte , to allow the customer number field to expand to 10 million+. The existing 7 digit customer numbers have been padded with a leading ‘0’, causing no match on a DB2 table lookup. Therefore, had to ignore the leading ‘0’ on custno field during the DB2 table lookup.

Developed a data extract application that provided the essential information to produce Quarterly
statements for managed accounts. The COBOL II, DB2 driver module controlled the creation of the extract
file of accounts by performing necessary data validations, opening, loading and closing all necessary VSAM
files and DB2 cursors used throughout the extract process. The driver module called 8 individual COBOL
batch sub modules to perform the necessary calculations and formatting of data into logical record types for
account holdings, performance review, realized gains/losses, fixed income details. The DB2 driver identified
combined accounts and passed this information through linkage to the holdings and performance review
programs. A separate COBOL batch program then used the holdings and performance information to create a
combined account summary record. The Quarterly statements extract process included 2 procs, exec JCL,
CA7 schedules, 7 DB2 cursors, 19 VSAM files, 11 IAM files, 1 Prevail error report.

Confidential Warren, NJ (1998-1999)
Wrote a COBOL II module to retrieve a record from MQ Series, process the data and then send back a reply using MQ Series as the communications link between a mainframe and an invoking PC application. As part of a project that denormalized columns from several DB2 tables onto 1 table, wrote an IMS module
to process every term for every policy type for every CHUBB insured from IMS databases, passing pertinent data elements through linkage to a called DB2 module. Wrote the called COBOL II, DB2 module that processed the data elements in linkage. This module populated new columns on several DB2 tables and
refreshed existing ones for over 4.5 million rows. It also created an error file of 1.9 million policies that rejected due to data integrity issues. This project included IMS checkpoint /restart/DB2/GSAM files.
As followup to the denormalization project, I researched and analyzed the 1.9 million policies that rejected due to data quality issues. Wrote specs for 5 new IMS and DB2 modules to reprocess the error file to programmatically fix the rejected data on the IMS and DB2 databases. Assumed Project Leader position, overseeing Junior programmers to complete the programming, testing and implementation of modules.
Analyzed IMS/DB2 modules for non Y2K compliance. Supported Junior Programmers in the task of programming, testing and implementation of Y2K resolutions using HourGlass 2000 software. As part of a Surety rewrite project, made coding changes to over 14 action blocks and 2 external
COBOL batch modules using the Case Tool software, IEF CoolGen.
