Senior Data Warehouse Developer
(August 2003 – September 2012 )
Worked as part of a 4 member team on a complete data warehousing assessment, development, and implementation. Initial effort was focused on interviewing various people within the company in order to gain an understanding of the current data environment within existing data marts, the current reporting procedures, and the functionality of the existing operational systems and reporting. The presented solution contained data models for a three layer ‘Kimble-based’ warehouse architecture. Source to target data mappings from initial source through all three layers including staging, ODS, and warehouse structures were developed as well as high level ETL processes. Primary development tasks involved designing and developing the complete ETL architecture including error handling and task auditing processes as well as a standard workflow model for all ETL processes and then developing the specific packages and stored procedures used to transform and load the data into the warehouse. Over eight years, the Samson data warehouse has evolved into a 500GB set of databases and data marts that serve as a source to user reports, DW-direct applications, application databases, and direct user querying.
