Project Scope:

Insurance Information Factory (IIF), a business unit of Mass Mutual contains the repository of consolidated Insurance data. The data is intended long term to provide business Intelligence, allowing historical analysis, Information delivery, data mining, ad-hoc reporting and file delivery. Additionally, IIF is used to feed many downstream systems, minimizing the maintenance of point-to-point integration between numerous interfaces and the policy administration system.

The major projects implemented at IIF are STP (Straight through Processing) and CDM (Customer Data Management)

  • STP

The STP project introduced the TERM policies to the insurance factory from a relatively new (T.P.P) Policy processor (PlanetSoft instance) as well as from the new EDS Radiance Admin system. The Objective of the STP project was to enable the timely access of business critical information and reducing the cost of information delivery through consolidated information. The data from TPP enabled the IIF warehouse to produce the business reports used mainly for historical analysis and decision making.

  • CDM

The CDM database is the customer domain of Mass Mutual’s master data management system. The objective of the CDM project is to bring together client records from various administrative systems across the enterprise to create a single, consolidated view of the customer. In addition, CDM will not introduce any data to the existing system but it will rather ensure that the existing data is more accurate.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To involve in full SDLC of various change requests of IIF application from requirement analysis till production implementation.
  • To understand the project data warehousing and reporting requirements.
  • Conversion of complex business requirements into modularized Informatica designs.
  • To provide the efforts estimations for any change request including all build work, unit testing and deployment.
  • To Optimize the Informatica mappings by tuning the SQL queries and session partitioning.
  • Responsible for reporting business SLA if the upstream systems for IIF are delayed with the source data in the production cycle.
  • To coordinate with offshore team and address their work related issues and concerns.
  • To develop FAC and improve the (financial audit and control) process for every IIF feed to meet the SOX compliance.
  • To create UNIX scripts and checker jobs to facilitate the ETL integration with other IIF areas such as mainframe and SAP BW.
