As the senior DB2 DBA/Consultant for the Infrastructure Support Group at the Internal Revenue Service, my duties are to provide senior-level DB2 database administration strategies to the Enterprise Operations management. Currently, I provide strategic support for V8 and V9 of DB2 UDB as well as serve as an advisor to production support on performance enhancements to the existing systems. Installation and maintenance of DB2 UDB V9.5 for Windows and AIX platforms as well as DB2 Data Studio and DB2 Management Console products. This includes research on DB2 products to enhance production support, planning disaster recovery strategy, failover configuration, review and recommend changes to existing database systems, and testing of new DB2 versions to deploy in the common operating environment. A Senior Manager and DB2 Database Administrator on the SecureFlight project with the Transportation Security Administration holding a SECRET CLEARANCE. This is a DB2 database system spread over 40 servers utilizing a 20-terabyte IBM Shark Storage system. The servers are both AIX and Windows Server platforms and include Tivoli and Rational databases. Duties include all facets of database administration, data modeling, data security protocols, database auditing procedures, performance monitoring/tuning, installation of IBM fixpaks, and implementing structural changes to the environment. Rollout of DB2 V9 to implement use of XML in data exchange.

Management of a DBA team supporting IBM Global Services clients. Providing data modeling, database administration, and application DBA support for multiple client sites for 4 years. Supported electrical component and garment manufacturers as a DBA and senior programmer/analyst. This environment was an IBM DOS/VSE and OS/390 environment utilizing both IMS and DB2. Re-engineering databases consisting of image, text, sound, and graphics data types for DB2 platform to work across a multi-platform environment.

Director of Database Architecture for Zurich Insurance Company North American operations. Directly managing database administration staff of 10 for all of insurance company database architecture/administration supporting entire insurance application spectrum. This data warehouse environment consisted of DB2 on Z/OS, DB2 UDB on Windows, and SQL Server 2000 on Windows. Also, consisted of using Quest software to manage all of the database environments from a common client interface on desktop machines.

Manager of the Mid-Atlantic Data Warehouse operations for Kaiser Permanente and an IBM-Certified Data Management expert and senior DBA managing a team of Oracle, Sybase, and DB2 DBAs. Implementation of EPIC Medical Systems (CLARITY, CHRONICALS) using Intersystems Cache relational database and web-ready development system in a MUMPS programming environment. Use of Kimball Data Warehouse principles in design of data warehouses. Implementing the ICD-10 format into our existing data structures and conversion of existing data to ICD-10 format. Managing all day-to-day production. This included developing web-based applications utilizing Cache Object-Oriented Database utilities. Instructor for use of Cache Object Script for programming. These data warehouses are in excess of 5 terabytes in size. Managed data warehouse staff for development and designed/performed ETL services, using Informatica, Cognos, and Ab Initio, to support the data warehouse and business partners for medical reporting. Worked directly with clinical and membership business partners to develop customized healthcare reporting systems. Third-party data reporting supported both HCFA/CMS data reporting and HHS functions. Developed system to feed systematic data to Johns Hopkins for the purpose of identifying potential serious disease outbreaks. The environment contained federated databases that included DB2, Oracle, Sybase, and SQL Server 2000. I became certified in HIPAA compliance measures during this tenure.
