About the Application :
OCS-SS is a network ordering system that accepts AT&T user input relating to High-End orders evaluates the content of the input and passes it on to provisioning and billing systems further downstream. An order is high end if it comes from a major business such as GE or a Government organization. These orders generally specify individual circuit connection and specific services that will be available to the customer to that circuit. The orders reflect physical components and locations, logical connections and relationships and complicated business agreements.
The OCS-SS system provides the sales centers and marketing delivery centers with on-line interacting system capability to enter, validate, store and distribute universal service orders (UCO`s) for AT&T special services.
OCS-SS is the main entry point into the interstate (IS) provisioning and billing systems that supports customize voice and data circuits and systems.
The OCS-SS process is an on-line, text based interactive CICS system. The user is presented with a series of screens representing the different segments of an order- Identification, Control, Billing, Service & Equipment and Remarks. Each screen needs to be filled in which data before the user can go another screen.

About the Project:
The Material Management Information Project as a part of JIS-Jamshedpur Integrated System of Tata Steel was under taken to computerize the entire gamut of Material Management function including indenting, ordering, stocks transaction & inventory Management, bill payment & accounting, stock accounting, vendor & commodity management on the IBM ES9121 Mainframe in a MVS/CICS/DB2 Environment. The project had a life span of 6.5 years starting in Feb`91, having moved to maintenance support group in Aug`97 with a total of 1300 man months of effort going into the software life cycle. It accounts for 30% of the total processing load with a user base of 274 & installed base of 106 terminals.
