This is a critical project which consists of a collection of mainframes applications which involves the credit and debit card payment.

This project involved Settlement, Debit Match, Risk Management System applications.

When a customer swipes his card for a purchase made at the merchant, the authorization is done by the payment gateway and the customer signs the receipt indicating his acknowledgement. At the end of day, the merchant collects all the receipts and sends it to the acquirer for payment. The Merchant services project played the role of an acquirer. The acquirer collects all the receipts verifies them and sends them to the card associations for payment. The card associations in turn get paid from the bank while charging a nominal fee or interest. This is then passed on to the acquirer who pays the bill of the merchant while again charging a nominal fee called as the interchange fee. This way the merchants are serviced.
