Project: Missouri Medicaid Management Information System

The Missouri Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) is the principal management tool to track and control Medicaid expenditures and provide the data for program planning and evaluation. Missouri State is developing a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process to implement federal and state medical policies, which focuses on improving services for beneficiaries, providers, pharmacies etc.

I worked on maintaining timely and accurate MMIS claims adjudication subsystem, which accepts claims from Medicaid providers, billing agencies and Medicare intermediaries as well as enhancing and maintaining Missouri Medicaid drug prior Authorization process and other subsystems.

Major tasks undertaken were analyzing requirements, creating functional designs and associated estimations, development, coding, system testing, implementation of programs for the Claims Adjudication Subsystem, Pharmacy (Drugs) subsystem, and newly established Verizon Help Desk. I also took care of State Task Requests and System Problem Assistance Requests. I developed programs for adding age criteria to the drug prior authorization process of the pharmacy unit. Enhanced cost settlement summary for hospitals of the financial unit. Enhanced programs for adding new pricing indicators to the PDD (Procedure, Diagnosis & Drug) file, created new modules for generating recipient denial letters, developed new edit override reports, enhanced early refill reports etc for the claims adjudication subsystem and also various complicated reports for Verizon help desk.
