3.50/5 (Submit Your Rating)

South Milwaukee, WI

SUMMARY:

  • Windchill Administrator with over 20 years of experience managing PLM systems across the enterprise and providing support to PLM users, facilitating the “design anywhere/build anywhere” strategy.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Senior IT Analyst / Windchill Administrator

Confidential, South Milwaukee, WI

Responsibilities:

  • Managed the daily support/operation and infrastructure of Windchill PDMLink, serving over 200 users at Confidential Global Mining. Windchill supports engineers and other staff at many locations worldwide using a combination of master vaults and replica servers. The system currently runs at 99.9% availability. Served as an administrator and developer for Enovia Designer Central prior to taking on the Windchill role.
  • Oversaw the Windchill Promotion Request workflow/release process on a daily basis, providing advice to engineers and taking action when needed. Performed trouble - shooting on publishing and file format conversion issues as well. Documented a plethora of user and administrator procedures, and trained many users directly.
  • Reverse engineered the legacy Windchill Promotion Request process and associated Java code, laying out the complex workflow in a color-coded “swim-lane” diagram. Building on that, worked with our off-shore developer to take advantage of the logic/notification features available in the PR framework to allow engineers to fix their own release issues. During the Enovia admin years, wrote dozens of trigger and migration programs in Java and MQL/TCL.
  • Responsible for the reliable operation and corporate IT compliance for 13 Windchill servers, supporting Production and Development environments. Windchill has a bi-directional interface with SAP and syncs/authenticates to two corporate LDAP services, respectively. Managed the setup and operation of 16 WVS workers spread over 4 servers. Performed the rehosting procedure to refresh the Development system. Worked with PTC in a 24/7 environment to diagnose and solve system issues.
  • Installed new Windchill instances and patches, and acted as technical and business lead for major upgrades. Selected consultants for the most recent upgrade based on competitive RFP’s. Managed to eliminate some customizations in the course of the upgrade process. Solved a critical problem during the weekend cutover where two servers were unable to communicate and the success of a rollback was questionable.
  • Enlisted the help of some 15 people in various IT roles at Confidential to migrate an unstable internet-facing app (LinkOne Webview) to a now reliable, robust platform.

Manager, Engineering Systems

Confidential, Pleasant Prairie, WI

Responsibilities:

  • Engaged SME’s to help model the heavy interaction between Sales and Engineering, and also modeled the complex and highly interactive ECN process. The solution resulted in a reduction of ECN cycle time from weeks to days.
  • Faced with a growing international user base, wrote the business case for migrating to the web-based Engineering Central. Secured the budget to move forward and chose the right consultant based on three bids.
  • Managed internal and external resources to implement Engineering Central on budget and on time. One decision made along the way was to ask the developers to add a forum-like, on-line discussion feature that the toolkit offered but wasn’t included in the module. That turned out to be a major influence in users accepting the new system.
  • After determining that Enovia was falling short of the business requirements, performed an in-depth requirements analysis for a new enterprise-wide PLM system. Organized three groups to analyze CAD integration, ECN, and NPI applications. Brought in vendors to specifically address the requirements and selected the best fit (i.e., Windchill).
  • Managed an expense budget largely involving annual software maintenance. Negotiated/renegotiated with vendors on engineering applications such as CAD, PLM, FEA, etc.
