Senior MicroStrategy Administrator
My current role is that of a MicroStrategy Administrator, on a team of three admins. My primary job is to provide support for three separate environments, while we work to consolidate all environments. I’m tasked with reviewing the current environments, and making suggestions to improve processes and procedures, to be implemented in the final consolidated environment. Another major task I have is to review the current security model, and completely overhaul to allow for easier administration. I’m also working on streamlining the manual user creation process, and preparing us to transition to having LDAP manage users. I have created various process and procedure documents including user creation, project and object decommissioning, and security group maintenance.

Senior MicroStrategy Administrator
I worked as the dedicated MicroStrategy Administrator, overseeing all aspects of roughly 15 distinct environments, spanning across 3 product groups. My initial goal was to evaluate and stabilize the current environments, and to make any recommendations for improvements, including best practices procedures, documentation, and architecture diagrams. I also worked to plan, test and implement a company wide upgrade from MicroStrategy version 9.4.1 HF9 to 10.4 HF4. In support of the upgrade, I maintained Sandbox and Migration environments, used to test new product features, and to test our projects against different database types. In addition, I worked with individual teams to help them become more self sufficient, by working on ways to automate routine processes, such as server restarts, package migrations, and history list cleanup. I was also responsible for server resource monitoring, system usage reports via Enterprise Manager, and overall server tracking, builds, and decommissions.

Senior MicroStrategy Administrator
I worked as a Senior Administrator, servicing a variety of companies on a subscription basis. I had 4 - 5 main clients that I provided day-to-day administrative functions for. With the wide range of clients, I regularly worked with multiple version of MicroStrategy, ranging from .2. These functions included, but weren’t limited to, user maintenance, troubleshooting, performance, and general MicroStrategy questions. I was also also responsible for making sure all servers were up and running 24/7, scheduled and ad hoc migrations, new server installs, upgrades, and hotfixes. My job also required me to provide and document any recommendations to clients, which may improve their environment. My clients spanned multiple time zones, so I also worked with an offshore team to make sure constant support was provided. In addition, I mentored entry-level and junior Administrators, and brought them along until they were capable of handling clients on their own.
