Installed, maintained and tested RMAN backup and recovery processes to ensure database recoverability. Performed database and SQL tuning to greatly improve overall database performance using both third party software (TOAD) and oracle provided utilities. Installed and configured Oracle’s grid control to allow for centralized administration and monitoring of the company’s databases. Assisted in migration of databases from 9i to 10g RAC. The migration also included the upgrade of Veritas’ volume manager to Veritas’ Storage Foundation (v4.1).

Installed and administered the company’s Local Area Network. This consisted of a heterogeneous environment consisting of Solaris, Linux and Windows NT 4.0 operating systems. Participated in the design and coding of a java-based application which provides managers the ability to monitor the current status of mission critical entities/matrices. The application was built using several W3C specifications including: Java, WSDL, SOAP, XML, RMI.

Installed and administered many Oracle (v. 7/8) databases on Unix Sun/HP platforms. Responsible for performance tuning of mission critical databases. One of the databases for which I was responsible supported an Order Tracking application, which served over 2800 concurrent users (5000+ user base) in a VERITAS High Availability (HA) environment.

Developed, tested and implemented strategies and processes for database deployment, population, backup and recovery. Created an environment for production DBA support personnel to simulate database failures and thus validate backup and recovery processes
