Software Engineer/Senior Database Developer
Confidential, [Dec 2004-Feb. 2006]
I worked on the new version of the Code Inspection System for a large Company, conducting detailedcomparative analysis with the current Mobile system. For the last Five (5) years the CERTS System used by the Organization was based on Visual Basic 6.0 with Oracle8i/9i PL/SQL as back-end. This involves intensive analysis and implementation of advanced Oracle PL/SQL. My work as the Developer/Analyst is to thoroughly analyze this current system then migrate it to Microsoft Visual Studio.NET(VB.NET/C#) 2003 .NET Framework with MS SQL Server2000 as back-end. The new release is more robust, engineered by Oracle10g Database server (for mobile component), Oracle Forms/Reports 9i (Developer Suite components), together with Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g for integrating reports and analysis. I used Oracle10g Warehouse Builder in current project together with MS SQL Server Data Transformation Services. Crystal Reports8.0.5/IX for delivery reports for extreme administrative insight (client/server architecture) with Visual Basic.NET 2003 user-interface. Final phase of this assignment involve the Database Migration from Oracle 9i Lite (mobile/PDA) to MS SQL 2000 Server. This project involves Database migration from Oracle9i to MS-SQL 2000.

Designing and implementing business-critical Report Writing with Cognos 8 Business Intelligence. I extensively worked with the Report Studio and Query Studio reporting tools which are the two parts of the Cognos ReportNet web application that allows you to create ad hoc and managed reports.
  • Problem definition [PD]: At this stage we determined the needs and constraints of the finance department by analyzing the requirements and interfacing with the administration [Time Frame: 3 weeks]
  • Solution analysis: By considering PD as the input, we were concerned with the set of possible ways to satisfy the requirements and constraints, studies and analyze the possible solutions, and select the optimum one. This was based on a couple of logical Tools such as ERD, Flow of Data, and UML [Time Frame: 2 weeks]
  • Process planning: This phase brought us to the actual tasks to be done, the size and effort to develop the software solution, the precedence between tasks, and the potential risks to the project. To understand the new system better, we still used some of the above logical Tools [Time Frame: 3 weeks]
  • Process control: Only three people engineered this phase, the task is to determine the methods for controlling the project and the process, measures progress, reviews intermediate products, and takes corrective action when necessary [4 weeks]
  • Product evaluation: Determines the quality and quantity of the delivered product through evaluation planning, testing, demonstration, analysis, examination, and inspection. We started by installing the system prototype on wide variety of hardware configuration running different versions of Windows operating systems [4 weeks].
  • Advanced Object Oriented Approach/Methodology.
