Design, manufacture and build a Sliding/Rolling Contact Fatigue tester to simulate gear contact.
Designed the drive system of the tester using chain and sprocket mechanism with unique chain tensioners.
Simulate the dynamics of the tester in ANSYS to make sure the tester is performing accurately.
Cost of tester brought down from 80,000 dollars to under 20,000 dollars by modifying parts to make manufacturing easier.
Tester capable of carrying out experiments using specimens up to 3 inches in diameter.
Test specimens with mixed mode chemically accelerated vibratory surface finishing (MM-CAVSF) using eddy current testing equipment.
