Workgroup leader

I am responsible for the academic output of working group 2 in the COST action listed above, looking at the impact of digital storage technologies on museums and archaeological collections. This work involves directing a group of more than a dozen academics to meet the tasks set by the larger actions, as well as hosting training schools and workshops across Europe. The Ariadne infrastructure: Linking archaeological datasets across Europe. This is an EU Horizon2020 funded project to link datasets across Europe, using the computational ontology CIDOC - CRM. Oversaw all use of geospatial and database technologies by institute members, including Trimble field instruments, ArcGIS, QGIS, PostgreSQL servers.
Responsible for the design, deployment and maintenance of the institute’s PostgreSQL/PostGIS excavation database.

Responsible for all surveying for specific building projects, including large skyscrapers and Reykjavík’s opera hall, Harpa.
I was trained on the job to use CAD and GIS software, and GNSS and optical survey instruments in the field.
This was a job with significant responsibilities, as I had to set out every part of the buildings using optical survey instruments and survey the finished product to monitor any divergences from the building plans.
I have used and taught ArcGIS and QGIS for over a decade and consider myself an expert in both software.
I am also skilled in managing geoservers and developing frontends for spatial data.
