Overview of Education and Experience
For the past 11 years; with Impressions Custom Computers Inc. I have worked in IT support of small businesses and individuals in Washington county, Iowa. I studied computer hardware, systems and application software, and methods of problem resolution intensively for 2 years with the founder of Impressions Custom Computers; and then replaced him as Lead Technician. In that capacity, I have extensive experience designing, implementing, repairing, and protecting computer networks, operating systems, single machines, applications software, and data; and solving problems while saving data and setup status. I understand the importance of keeping people working in the face of computer crises.�
Technical Skills and Expertise

Hardware:

I routinely repair various models of desktop and portable machines from all major vendors, perform data recovery and backup. I am experienced in solving issues of hardware incompatability, and choosing components for new-machine-builds. Impressions Computers server-builds were designed and built by me. I am familiar with most common networking hardware: routers, switches, and firewalls; and have worked with cisco pixes, fortigates, and netgear firewalls, including custom setup of VPN tunnels, subnetting, and command line setup. I have organized and built wiring closets, and patch panels, as well as pulling cable.

Operating Systems:

I am comfortable with NT server, terminal server,client side citrix set up, 2000 server, 2003, 2008, both Standard and Small Business Server, and Exchange, Sql, IIS, and IAS. Beyond Microsoft systems, I use Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Tiger, including a bit of apple OS troubleshooting. I have setup and maintained hybrid OSX and XP systems and networks. I have setup several generations of Knoppix, Ubuntu and Suse Linux workstation operating systems; but would have to learn Linux or Apple server.

I have Comptia A+, Network + certs; I will test for mcsa, ccna, and security + if needed or desired.
