Lead CNC Machinist
Responsibilities:
- Lead man. As lead machinist for Dorian tool International, a worldwide leader in tooling technology. My first responsibility included contentious TEAMWORK with engineering and programming to ensure all upcoming jobs were programmed and ready for machining. I was responsible for ensuring orders, material, and tooling were in place and ready for the proper machining center.
- Program editing & Set - up The lathe cell consisted of 5 machines, including 3 multi-axis lathes. I was responsible for the editing and set-up of all 5 machines then instructing the operator on the responsibilities of running the job.
- Training On the floor I took all opportunities to train the machine operators. I believe in training, better machinist equal better parts, less scrap and faster turnaround. Ultimately saving the company time and money.
- Tolerances Dorian Tool prides themselves as being the ‘First choice in technology’. Machine tools and accessories have to be manufactured at extremely tight tolerances’. The largest tolerance would be +.000 -.003 on the outer diameter of a boring bar. The smallest being .0002 in an insert seat/pocket of a cutting tool.

Okuma machines have conversational capabilities, although these ran Fanuc similar programming.
