Customized the award communication process, loan origination process, ISIRs, profiles and different external system data (EDI) interfaces.
  • Converted several mass change definitions to SQRs, customized letter generation in the mail merge application, Student Communication setup, and customization of SQCs and wrote new SQCs as per the client specific needs. Also designed and documented the SQR and SQL standards for the future use.
  • Streamlined and developed the evaluation rating calculation method based on different test scores like SAT and ACT etc. for 8 different schools since PeopleSoft provided procedures and method were not fit for Duke’s specific needs. Wrote all the technical documentation for communication management process, evaluation calculation process as well as the communication in Financial Aid.
  • Providing constant user support to the admissions, financial aid module and ready for the Student Records and Student’s Financials module which is about to go live. In Student Financials, worked with functional power users to support conversion activities and fix problems in processes after fixes in Tuition Calc, Billing, Refund, Cashiering and GL interface. Also providing constant support to the functional folks who are testing these modules. Interacting with PeopleSoft Inc. for needed bug fixes and patches. Also assisting the DBA to troubleshoot and fix problems and fine tune the performance of the database and the application server middleware. Troubleshooting UNIX shell programs and environment settings; Working with system administrators and operators to monitor UNIX processes and file systems. PeopleSoft HRMS and Payroll Module

Responsibilities:
  • Wrote SQR interface from PeopleSoft HR/Payroll to SAP Financials (General Ledger). This process of 4 phases produces several different reports and flat files that contain all the information concerning General Ledger. This interface accesses several PeopleSoft tables to get data related to earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes & accruals. At end, all the balanced data gets posted to SAP General Ledger.
  • Wrote SQR interface from PeopleSoft Payroll System to SAP Accounts Payable. This interface collects information about some employees having wage garnishment automatically withheld from their pay and remitted to the appropriate entities. For Operating Units utilizing SAP financials and PeopleSoft, information about wage garnishments is forwarded to SAP via flat files. The flat file contain all the information necessary to create a Vendor Invoice in SAP and are loaded into the SAP accounts Payable/Vendor Invoice function via BDC processing.
  • Wrote SQR interface which runs at the end of each pay period to send employee information for Employment Verification and Public Assistance Verification (TALX). This interface sends an output file at each pay end date after pay-confirm to TALX (Government organization which maintains data for every employee earnings for current year and past two years for Loan verification and public assistance purposes.) This file contains all active, inactive employee’s personal and earnings data for current and past 12 pay periods as well as earnings data past two years. This interface also produces the report for total data send.
  • A set of SQR programs written for Archiving History Information: Payroll information from the old pay history file had been converted into PeopleSoft history database. The system is modeled after the PeopleSoft paysheet tables. This includes pay check, pay earnings, pay oth earns, pay deduction and pay tax. The system was designed to look and feel like the pay summary in PeopleSoft. The system allows Payroll personnel to lookup history information using the same panels and query tools used in the PeopleSoft production database. These SQR generates several files as well as reports.
  • Customized various PeopleSoft delivered various SQR reports according to Confidential needs. These include Compensation Mgmt, Contractual Agreement Report, Union membership report, Deduction not taken report etc.
  • Designed and wrote technical specs. for all these projects.
  • The database used was Oracle 7.3 under HP-Unix.
  • Streamlining processing of vendor files that included payroll and base benefit data. These files behaved like interface files to payroll systems- (both US and Canada), 3rd party benefit providers, appraisers and training providers.
  • Modifying SQRs associated with payroll registers to help in funding accounts, balancing accounts and transferring data to the General Ledger system. These SQRs were then run through process scheduler for different pay groups.
  • Modified SQRs for better performance and tuning which includes modification of joins and use of load-lookup.
  • The database used was Oracle 7.3 under HP-Unix.
