Responsibilities:

Collaborated with Purchasing, Engineering and the Global Supply Chain to resolve component sourcing issues by locating, selecting and approving electronic components for new and existing products to meet design intent while ensuring supply continuity.
Identified, recommended actions, and tracked key areas of concern to the electronic component supply chain. Working with the Commodities Manager, developed and negotiated supply strategies to ensure supply continuity for the global electronic manufacturing base.
Worked with Engineering in the design phase of products to ensure that they chose parts that were multi sourced, readily available and at the beginning to middle of their life cycle. This ensured that we would be able to procure parts for production and that there was less chance of the part going obsolete causing expensive redesigns.
Worked with contract manufacturers to assist them with their component issues for the building of some of our PCB’s. Worked with manufacturing to resolve component issues that arose during the manufacturing process. Reviewed over 400 internal part numbers, of which, greater than 60% had only one or two sources.
Sources for these 400+ part numbers were increased by better than 250%, giving purchasing more leverage to get better pricing and delivery. Created a PCN e-mail address so all manufacturer Product Change Notification’s would be sent to a central location and be tracked in a central tracking sheet so important issues would not slip through the cracks causing any unnecessary problems.
