Responsibilities:

BUSINESS INFORMATION ANALYST

Confidential, Brandon, FL

Responsibilities:

  • As a member of MIS supporting mortgage services, my position involved data query and report development to assist business unit clients with analysis activities. The workload consisted of multiple project trackers, received from clients requesting tables, listings, analysis or modification of existing programs. Regular interaction with end - users across departments was necessary to discuss projects requiring the extraction or manipulation of data stored in database and mainframe systems.
  • Multiple mainframe SAS data-marts with hundreds of variables and millions of observations were accessed for data extraction. Primary extracts originated from the mainframe and were downloaded to PC SAS, facilitating a cost effective processing environment. Within SAS, the DATA step, MACRO, ODS, PROC: SQL, TABULATE, REPORT and PRINT were most often utilized. Recurring reports were automated using a scheduler and delivered internally as web reports. The client also received data in EXCEL allowing further analysis by the end-user.
  • Ad-hoc requests from upper management known as ‘fire drills’ were frequent. They demanded a quick turnaround and reprioritization of current projects. Requests ranged from ensuring compliancy with banking regulations to reconciliation of variables between multiple data sources.

PROGRAMMER

  • I supported software which processed television ratings owned by the Production and Local Custom Sports departments.
  • The majority of software was mainframe based, written in SAS with a small percentage of Model 204. Products were created and JCL turned over to analysts within the department for processing.
  • The JCL was set up to allow entry of specific parameters such as demographics, measurement periods and station viewing information.
  • Once submitted, the JCL included the SAS code stored in the appropriate libraries and generated the custom report.
  • Reflections Software was used to download mainframe output to the PC.
  • Final deliveries were in EXCEL or CSV format which often fed other applications.
  • Maintenance included a Software Certification process tracked in Lotus Notes.
  • A mainframe application repository was used to store routines, specs and formats.
  • I worked with product managers, marketing and subject matter experts on client specifications.
  • Interviewed analysts about work processes and identified ways of automating labor-intensive tasks.
