Lead SharePoint Application Developer

Confidential is a very big organization that deals with economic and financial developments with around 188 developing countries across the world. These countries are organized by several departments, where each department has its own SharePoint site collections. Our project main scope is to completely upgrade all intranet sites from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 2013 and with much more customized applications.

Following are my duties in this project:

• Involved in major discussions to plan decide the best approach for migration/upgrade of MOSS 2007 to 2010 SharePoint 2013 that suits our business users.
• It has 2 major phases,
• Migrating and upgrading current 2007 web applications to SP 2010 platform using database restore approach, which we call it as AS-IS migration Not Visually upgraded .
• Visually upgrade the site collections and utilize the SP 2010 2013 features completely including with new branding, designs, solutions etc.
• Migrated data/sites from SP 2010 to SP 2013 extranet sites and other SharePoint content migration with Metalogix content.
• Worked on several Visual studio 2005 solutions developed for MOSS 2007 to make them migrated to VS 2010 and work with SP 2010 2013.
• Worked on SharePoint client object model in SP 2010 2013 to reduce the server side code/requests which improved overall performance of the sites, especially by using JQuery.
• Extensively worked on SP 2010 new service applications, for example Metadata service application, Excel services etc.
• Created custom solutions for content types, custom metadata columns, list definitions to use SP 2010 new content type hub feature which makes the content easy to organize, manage and especially improves the search performance.

SharePoint Developer

Confidential is a large Pharmaceuticals company with a large SharePoint farm environment where Confidential portal in one of the big applications they have. This project involves mainly two phases, one is migration of data from MOSS 2007 PGS application to MOSS 2007 new PGS environment with totally a new branding, customizations etc. and second phase is to transform migrate data from non-SharePoint environment to MOSS 2007 new environment.

Following are some of my contributions in this project:

• Communication plan has more priority here which deals with collecting all the information from business users and the respective department owners for migrating their data.
• Initially reviewed the old sites to see any chance of modifications or deletions that has to be done before migration Pre-Migration tasks .
• Used a 3rd party tool for both phases of the project called Metalogix migration manager for SharePoint and Metalogix migration manager website edition.
• During phase I of the project, we used Metalogix migration manager for SharePoint.
• Data from each department site collections is migrated to MOSS 2007 new environment.
• Created all the scripts to migrate the data which includes creating jobs, mapping metadata between the two environments.
• Scripts are scheduled to run after business hours to avoid any traffic to the servers during work hours.
• Crucial tasks for this phase include but not limited to, mapping metadata/custom columns from old sites to new sites, libraries lists migration, reviewing completed jobs and their logs etc.
• During phase II, used migration manager website edition to migrate the data from non-SharePoint sites to MOSS 2007 sites.
• Consolidated all the required data from MCMS servers, Lotus Notes, which includes html pages, menu items, JavaScript's, navigations etc.
• Discussed all the possibilities of transforming this data to SharePoint environment based on OOTB custom functionalities of the new SharePoint environment.
• Worked on MOSS 2007 dashboard features, BDC, Excel Web Services, and Power View/Power Pivot.
• Faced many challenges during this phase particularly with the MCMS server pages and navigations. With a good team work, we resolved most the issues and also took some help from Metalogix tool support team.
• Even under tough deadlines, we reached success in delivering the new PGS application with all data migrated.

SharePoint Developer

Confidential entertainment company uses SharePoint 2010 for both their internal company sites as well as for external sites. They use many customized applications like web templates, custom web parts, lists, content types and master pages etc. Main scope of the project is to create a custom SharePoint web template for their internal external departments they have for the entertainment group.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Started with a suggestion of analyzing advantages of using custom web template compared to site templates.
• Collected and documented all the requirements from the client.
• Worked with the design team to finalize the wire frames created for the project.
• Created visual studio solution packages for the web templates using Visual studio 2010.
• Developed and deployed custom master pages that uses ECMA client java script for dynamic URL's in master pages.
• Developed custom CSS styles and deployed to the hive for making use in all the applications.
