Senior Database Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the development teams, we created a database installer which would fully install Oracle on a customer’s server with very little interaction from the customer.
  • Each upgrade or patch install thereafter also was required to work with no on site database administration support.
  • The initial database architecture has not changed much since I first laid it out for the Oracle 10c installer.
  • The location of datafiles, control files, log files and temp files all have stayed the same.
  • Over the years, we have had to create new tablespaces, increase redo log file sizes, temp file design, and make a few init.ora changes.
  • These changes typically were handled during an upgrade, however, we consistently applied security patches to the databases by building a new database installer to ensure the database was secure.
  • Consulted on schema migration from Sybase to Oracle 10c
  • Defined init parameters to be used as the default install for the Confidential Oracle database
  • Defined default database file locations for control, redo, archive, datafiles and logs including multiplexing
  • Collaborated on the scripting for daily RMAN and Export backups
