effort to convert a COBOL/ADABAS/VSAM system to COBOL/DB2. Developed COBOL/DB2 programs that interfaced with Software AG\'s EntireX
communication broker, which, in turn, communicated with web pages developed in Java. Was involved in performance tuning of DB2 cursors that were used for search queries. Used BMC to run Explains in order to determine best use of table indexes. Used Endevor and Endevor QuickEdit.

Confidential, Malvern, Pennsylvania. September/2010 – February/2011. Participated in an effort to convert thirty Sybase stored procedures into DB/2 stored procedures. Stored procedures were COBOL programs with embedded SQL. Endevor was used as version control/compilation tool. Used MicroFocus COBOL Mainframe Express as a debugging tool. Participated in daily scrum

Confidential, Scranton, Pennsylvania, June/2006 – December/2008. Using Oracle , made changes to an existing cost accounting system used to track and allocate costs to various truck, plane and ship bound shipments. Analyzed and designed approach to remove existing Accounts Receivables preprocessor subsystem and retrofit those functions into the General Ledger and Accounts Receivables systems Automated Unix batch processing by writing Kornshell and Perl scripts and modifying existing PL/SQL applications. Supporting a credit card promotions system, wrote DB2 stored procedures for table maintenance and several Cobol conversion programs to take existing DB2 tables and QSAM files, convert the record layouts and write the new format record to the Websphere MQ Queue for further processing in the job stream. Sept/2003 – Feb/2004. Using COBOL/CICS/DB2, I made enhancements to a membership system to allow for flexibility in enrollments (e. g., higher deductible and lower premium or higher premium and lower deductible) of new customers. This was an effort to make the company more competitive in the market place. The target was CICS/MVS on an IBM Mainframe. I also coded native COBOL/DB2 programs and staged/promoted them using Changeman.

Using Cool:Gen 6.0, I made enhancements to an existing inventory replenishment system. This was a GUI/Client Server and web based system. Component based development was used. I generated ASP and VB com proxies. OCX and OLE controls were used extensively. The server was an IBM mainframe operating in a CICS region.

Confidential, Plano, Texas, Sep/2002 – Apr/2003 Using Cool:Gen 5.1, I made changes to an existing block mode system which runs under MVS on an IBM mainframe. My specific duties were to make changes to the advertisement planning and pagination systems so that the marketing department could track more closely the effect on sales of certain national advertisement campaigns. Other duties included writing COBOL programs to extract data from the DB2 tables for loading to the Teradata tables. Writing specifications, designing DB2 tables and testing were included in all these tasks. Endeavor was used for version control.

Confidential, Madison, Wisconsin, Jan/2002 – Sep/2002. Using COBOL/CICS/DB2, I worked on the team that rewrote the titling and registration system of the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation. My specific duties included the writing of the subsystem that calculated all fees for titling and registration. The environment was an IBM mainframe under an MVS operating system using COBOL, DB2 and CICS. I wrote both batch procedures and online screens. UDB 7.0 was used for data manipulation and testing. I wrote JCL for executing batch procedures. TSO/ISPF, SPUFI and QMF were used for interfacing with and testing on the mainframe.

Confidential, Smyrna, Tennessee, July/2001 – Jan/2002. Wrote COBOL/DB2 programs to extract data from an IBM mainframe legacy system and providing interfaces to an SAP system. The environment was Windows NT and 200, IBM/MVS, using JCL, TSO/ ISPF, Fileaid, Endeavor and Xpediter.

Confidential, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Feb/2000 – Jul/2001. Using Cool:Gen 4.1, performed maintenance/enhancement tasks on existing State of New Mexico Child Support System. Target was IBM mainframe under the MVS operating system with COBOL II external action blocks/CICS/DB2. I wrote several SQL queries using QMF and SPUFI. The text editor was TSO/ISPF. The environment was block mode/online and batch JCL. I also supported the nightly batch JCL cycle in an on call capacity. I used XPEDITER and ABEND AID for debugging purposes. I used File-Aid and Platinum for accessing data sets and DB2 data. As part of my tasks, I created my own aggregate sets and migrated my own code changes from model to model. Nov/1997 – March/1998. Worked on eligibility subsystem of larger billing system, making changes to allow for the recoupment of several millions of dollars in unpaid bills. Confidential, Melbourne, Florida. Feb/1997 – Nov/1997. Worked as part of an integration test team for the development of the National Crime Information Center upgrade/rewrite for the FBI. Confidential, San Jose, California, Oct/1995 – Jan/1996. Involved in a pilot project to determine the efficiecy of I/O routines. Included in this task was the rewrite of the server side of a previously written IEF Composer Windows Client/Server application, The purpose of this task was to compare SQL calls generated by IEF Composer with IEF Composer External Action blocks that called ORACLE stored procedures. Testing was done on an OS/2 workstation accessing ORACLE databases on the HP/9000 via ORACLE SQLNET.

Senior Programmer/Analyst. Responsible for the analysis, development and support of Manufacturing and Transportation Systems for chemical plants and terminals in the U. S. and Canada. These systems were written in PLI, COBOL, DB2, IMS DB/DC and CICS on the IBM 3090 mainframe under the MVS operating system and the PS/2/PC. Was a user of a Local Area Network. Specific subsystems included a Tracking System for the tracking of shipments of methanol from Canada to the U. Using POSE (Picture Oriented Software Engineering), created data modelof the new Ship/Barge Scheduling System to be developed in DB2.
