Database Programmer III and SQL Server 2005 / MS Access 2007 / VB.NET / VB6 / ASP.NET

Responsibilities:

  • Sole developer for the WVT (Water Vapor Transfer) Database (Access to SQL Server backend) involving numerous data input forms, queries and reports.
  • Sole Programmer and SQL Server DBA for the Battery Build Database (Access front end/SQL Server 2005 backend) consisting of more than 71 tables and over 50 forms, reports and modules, for tracking the build and repair of battery stacks for General Motors prototype electric vehicles.
  • Rewrote the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) database with an Access 2007 front-end and an Access 2007/SQL Server 2005 backend for the acquisition of fuel cell materials (including purchase orders, receipt, distribution within the facility, and reusability of parts).
  • Wrote a system in VB.NET for tracking process and inventory for iMEA group managing information in SQL Server 2005 backend tables.
  • Created and modified tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers and indexes in the SQL Server 2005 databases used by the Programming Development team. Our team works directly with the SQL Server 2005 server (serving as both DBA and Developer).

Legal Research Specialist / Word Basic Programmer

Responsibilities:

  • Created many Microsoft Word macros and templates, which would later be converted into Word Basic (with the advent of Word 97); and from there transitioned into VB6 (very similar to VBA).
  • Completed numerous projects to create templates, databases, and tools that have led to substantial savings in man-hours necessary to complete routine tasks. These have included:
  • Created and released "Phoenix Toolkit," an MS Word template for editorial team use in working with the different document coding structures. This toolkit selected for demonstration at 2004 Tech Summit, held at corporate headquarters in Eagan, MN. It continues to be the primary non-XML editor tool used for Analytical products in the organization with multiple releases each year.
  • Collaborated with Senior Database Engineer to convert PAX Conversion database from Access 2000 to Access Project with SQL Server 2000 back-end. This conversion resulted in improved stability in a multi-user environment. Continues to serve several hundred customers and provides a key resource in tracking changes for the conversion of publications between technologies.
  • Developed process for reading and transferring tag-based information from multiple Word documents into an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Created and rolled out VB file-splitting program for dividing large files, based on tags. Also created VB program to extract key numbers from large file sent from corporate headquarters, which allowed rebuilding of infobase with current changes.
